Hi, my name’s Emily and I will be a Language Assistant in the region of Madrid, Spain from October 2018- June 2019. I’m 23 years old and from North London, England. Recently, I graduated from the University of Leicester with a degree in Modern Languages, one of those languages being Spanish. Thinking about a career after university was stressful, until I thought about mixing my passion for languages with helping others, and that’s when I stumbled upon the British Council programme. I have had some experience with working with children before as when I was at university I would go to primary schools to teach children the French and Spanish language and I knew that I would like to take this further and pursue it as a career. My expectations for being a LA are that I will enjoy it very much as I like working with children and find it very fulfilling to watch them progress. I expect that I will be able to adjust to the routine and I hope that I will also progress and improve my teaching skills.
